TRAFFIC TICKETS
In Texas, the criminal system divides its crimes into several different categories depending on the severity of the crime. There are three major categories:

-
Infractions
-
Misdemeanors
-
Felonies

Here, we focus on the first category

INFRACTIONS
These types of crimes are the least serious type of crime and are classified as CLASS C MISDEMEANOR cases. They may involve a violation of a rule, ordinance, or a law. It's a petty offense that usually does not appear on background checks and does not involve jail time.
However, if left unpaid, the violation can escalate from an infraction to a misdemeanor. Unless a citation goes unpaid, the fine is usually the only penalty for the infraction.
Thus, an individual adjudged guilty of a Class C Misdemeanor shall be punishable by a fine not to exceed $500.
Please note that an individual's prior convictions may allow for an enhancement.
