TRAFFIC TICKETS

In Texas, the criminal system divides its crimes into several different categories depending on the severity of the crime. There are three major categories:

  1. Infractions

  2. Misdemeanors

  3. Felonies

Here, we focus on the first category

INFRACTIONS

These types of crimes are the least serious type of crime and are classified as CLASS C MISDEMEANOR cases. They may involve a violation of a rule, ordinance, or a law. It's a petty offense that usually does not appear on background checks and does not involve jail time.

However, if left unpaid, the violation can escalate from an infraction to a misdemeanor. Unless a citation goes unpaid, the fine is usually the only penalty for the infraction.

Thus, an individual adjudged guilty of a Class C Misdemeanor shall be punishable by a fine not to exceed $500.

Please note that an individual's prior convictions may allow for an enhancement.

At A. Vega Rubio Law, we believe that it is very important to make sure that your license is CLEAN and CLEAR. Not only is there a possibility of having to pay a fine, but your license can be revoked and your insurance can significantly increase. You have the right to defend yourself!
